Scud Patterns
Scuds are tiny, shrimp-like creatures that live at the bottom of rivers and streams. When a large number of scuds emerge from their hiding places, it's called a scud hatch. This is a feast for trout and other fish, as these little critters are a favorite food source.
During a scud hatch, fish actively feed on the scuds, making it a prime time for fly fishing. Anglers use various fly patterns to imitate scuds, including nymphs, emergers, and adults.
